I have successfully installed dev-lang/ocaml-3.08.3. 
upon trying to emerge camlimages-2.2, an error occur as follows: (notice it happens also when installing, succesfully, recent unstable version of ocaml)

It looks like a findlib issue. Can you please upgrade ocaml to 3.09.3, reemerge findlib and tell us if you are still having this issue?
