Can you reproduce the problem, i.e. - does it fail again at *exactly* the same space? If not, you ran out of RAM/disk space most likely. i have 3x32MB RAM und enough harddisk space i guess router ~ # df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda3 8795308 2774284 6021024 32% / udev 46660 52 46608 1% /dev shm 46660 0 46660 0% /dev/shm i re-emerge gcc and post the position, where it fails ok? btw thx for such fast responding :-P i have increased the swap file and it fails at another point. updating cache ./config.cache configure: creating ./config.status config.status: creating Makefile config.status: creating config.h config.status: executing default-1 commands config.status: executing gstdint.h commands make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/i686-pc-linux-gnu/libgfortran' /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/gcc-4.1.1/libgfortran/mk-sik-inc.sh '/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/gfortran -B/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib/ -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/include -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/sys-include -I . -Wall -fno-repack-arrays -fno-underscoring ' > selected_int_kind.inc || rm selected_int_kind.inc /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/gcc-4.1.1/libgfortran/mk-srk-inc.sh '/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/gfortran -B/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib/ -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/include -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/sys-include -I . -Wall -fno-repack-arrays -fno-underscoring ' > selected_real_kind.inc || rm selected_real_kind.inc /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/gcc-4.1.1/libgfortran/mk-kinds-h.sh '/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/gfortran -B/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/./gcc/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -B/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib/ -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/include -isystem /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/sys-include -I . -Wall -fno-repack-arrays -fno-underscoring ' > kinds.h || rm kinds.h /var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/gcc-4.1.1/libgfortran/mk-kinds-h.sh: Unknown type grep '^#' < kinds.h > kinds.inc /bin/sh: kinds.h: No such file or directory make[3]: *** [kinds.inc] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build/i686-pc-linux-gnu/libgfortran' make[2]: *** [all-target-libgfortran] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build' make[1]: *** [all] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-4.1.1/work/build' make: *** [profiledbootstrap] Error 2 !!!
