Google Earth displaying some nice special effects

Description Thomas Willis 2006-07-06 09:38:53 UTC
forgive me if this is report is not satisfactory. I find so few bugs in gentoo that it's hard for me to stay familiar with the process. :)

Anyway, when booting up googleearth you get the nice view of the globs but an image in the center of the screen never comes up. The problem gets worse once you start hitting specific locations And images either don't refresh as you move or incorrect images load.

screenshot illustrating the problem

a nice representation of the problem I think....
Comment 2 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-06 15:24:07 UTC
Sorry I cannnot reproduce this :(

I do not realy have a way to fix anything in this binary-only app and I do not think this is a gentoo problem, maybe your video hardware? I would suggest you bug the google guys about it.
Comment 3 Albert Zeyer 2006-09-09 04:03:44 UTC
I have the same problem here. The textures are not only not refreshing themselves, there are mixed up, too (look at the screenshot).
I have also an AMD64 with an nVidia onboard-card, Xorg 7.1 and using nvidia-drivers-1.0.8774.

Either this is AMD64 related, but I mainly think of a problem with the nVidia-board (it is some of this new AMD64-nVidia-mainboards with an onboard-nVidia-graphics-card) and/or the nvidia-drivers.
Xorg.0.log says, it is a:
(II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 6100 at PCI:0:5:0
lspci says:
00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 PCI Express Bridge (rev a2)
