On my box, kgamma comaplained about the missing file "strstream.h" while making. emerge STLport fixed it, since it installs "/usr/include/stlport/using/h/strstream.h"

Please provide your emerge info and reopen. Here KGamma installs fine without STLport, and it's doubtful that it requires that library.
