I had the previously recorded problem compiling version 1.2.4 when using the 
nvidia opengl drivers.  However, version 1.2.5 compiles fine even with the 
nvidia drivers selected.

I was also having difficulty compiling 1.2.4

I also have nvidia opengl drivers

I emerged the 1.2.5 and everything worked fine.

Ok, it appears I have added this ebuild some time ago :).
Also looks like there are some kde-related problems :(.
