I think this is actually an issue with xerces... which version do you have installed?

I have version 2.8.0 and 1.3.1-r1.

Which should I have?

Try with emerging xerces-2.7.x and see how that goes. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to more finely slot xerces at some point though.

That would maybe explain this comment in the ebuild :)

I had luck with version 2.6.2-r2.

Patch for jboss-module-common to build with >xerces-2.7*, but I dont know if this.fCurrentPSVI.fDeclaration is equal to
                 this.fCurrentElemDecl in http://xerces.apache.org/xerces2-j/javadocs/xerces2/org/apache/xerces/impl/xs/XMLSchemaValidator.html

xerces-2.6 now has own slot, so please switch to it
