Emerge log - :-)

Description Guy 2003-01-10 21:37:41 UTC
Emerge -u world installed the latest version of kvirc (I was using beta1).

kvirc-3.0.0-beta2 invokes the KDE crash-handler when attempting to start up.

I'm attatching a file with the crash handler output and my emerge info.

Output of KDE crash handler for kvirc beta2

If further info would be helpful, just post here. :-)

BTW -- I use X-chat as my backup for kvirc so this is not a 'life or death
issue' for me.

kvirc-3.0.0-beta1 KDE crash handler output.

Additional info:

I successfully unmerged kvirc-3.0.0-beta2. I re-emerged kvirc-3.0.0-beta1.

Beta1 now barfs in the same place as beta2. See attached KDE crash handler
output.

Well it looks like you guys have to wait for beta3 or use xchat!

Has anyone seen any bug reports in the kirc mail list or similar, it must be
fixed by now.

Will have to find the patch or mask beta2.... will have a look,

Looking at the backtraces I see it dies when tring to setup the fonts, have any
of you upgraded qt, X11, kdelib or anything else which touches the fonts?

It could also be a configuration problem, an old beta1 setting interfering beta2.

(ps I don't use KDE)

Stefan

Emerge log - :-)

heh - :)

ROFLMAO - heeeyyyyy, If you think I jumped (with both feet yet) on this emerge,
you can't possibly believe that everything else wouldn't be as just
up-to-date!!

I've attatched my emerge.log for your perusal. If you want any other logs,
listings or such just post for 'em here.

I'll be very happy when the whole font thing settles down more. It's already
greatly improved mind you. But is sure would be nice if it were even more
stable. ;-)

I wish I could help more, but I'm only a Pick/Universe guru. Until I can learn
more, *nix programming is beyond me.
Comment 6 Guy 2003-02-04 20:15:52 UTC
This is no longer a problem for me.
Comment 7 Stefan Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-02-28 04:55:21 UTC
Is it ok yet, please give me any news as I don't use KDE!

I poped onto IRC and did a quick survey, ppl are using kvirc_beta2.

I guess it works now. Closing.
