Description BakaOhKi 2006-06-08 02:37:42 UTC
While the 8756 series are marked stable on amd64 I found a strange "bug" with this release: my Geforce 6800 card emits strange noises (!) upon sudden changes on the screen. This can be an alt-tab, or a small window with the spinning glxgears or just a forward/back event n the browser.

The noise is a very high pitched noise, might be the fan (??), but it is NOT the display; upon upgrading to the next unstable driver or downgrading to the previous stable the noise has gone.

This needs to be reported upstream, we can't fix binary drivers.

You mean I should report it to nvidia? Either way, thanks for the fast reply.

Yeah, that's what he means. I think you'll find a way to report it to them by poking around the linux drivers portion on their site.
