Upgraded to xorg-x11-7.1 and found java applications that used to work now seg. fault upon starting. Web page containing java applets will also not displayed. 

I have XIM started in .xprofile as follows:

export LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.utf-8"
export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx
export XMODIFIERS="@im=fcitx"
export XIM=fcitx
export XIM_PROGRAM=fcitx
fcitx &
 
When I have fcitx commented out and restart my desktop (KDE), java applications starts normally again. I have tried switching to scim with the same result. Disable the XIM program and java applications starts normally. Re-emerge libX11 doesn't help. Below is the screen output when I start a java program from a terminal.

I also have an issue with Sun JDK bringing down the X server when I try to open java applets on firefox (happens with epiphany also).
I think it started after the upgrade to xorg-x11-7.1.
I don't think I have XIM though.

Please check whether this is still reproducable with current versions of Xorg and scim in Portage
