Description Srepfler Srgjan 2006-05-27 18:20:22 UTC
I hope this will be the first sun java sdk that will not require to fetch the package thanks to the new licence. Thunderbirds are go!
Comment 1 Srepfler Srgjan 2006-05-27 18:21:13 UTC
(bump from 1.5.0.06 to 1.5.0.07)
Comment 2 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 18:40:29 UTC
0day bump requests suck
Summary should contain the new version, not the old one
Component should be Ebuilds
Severity should be enhancement
OS should be All
The URL mentioned is the one with old license
The new license URL is https://jdk-distros.dev.java.net/developer.html but there is not 1.5.0.07 yet
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-27 22:38:30 UTC
Reopen when there's something to download at least...
Comment 4 Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-28 02:11:21 UTC
The expected URL:

http://download.java.net/dlj/binaries/jdk-1_5_0_07-distro-linux-i586.bin

does not exist. This request is rather difficult to fulfill when upstream hasn't actually put out their code.

The binaries are out. I'm sorry Caster, I'm not that used to work with bugzilla, plus I was working all day and my eyes were closing.

No, they are not... Kindly tell upstream to stop making bogus announcements.
Comment 9 Hack Kampbjorn 2006-05-29 08:13:18 UTC
Binaries are out I just downloaded them expecting an ebuild to be ready

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Says: "JDK 5.0 Update 7 includes the JVM technology"

Yeah, that's completely useless for us, until they put them to the link quoted in Comment #2.
Comment 11 Srepfler Srgjan 2006-05-29 10:29:23 UTC
The link on post #2 has donwloads that work but they are for the 1.5.0.06 (jdk-1_5_0_06-distro-linux-i586.bin). However as in the original url I mentioned http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp has a link Download JDK 5.0 Update 7 which leads to a page where a person can download the release 7 of java5. That said, the page it leads to asks a licence acceptance so I guess that's problematic. At this point I ask will gentoo try to target 1.5.0.07 as it was always done with the fetch flag or will you try to release one based on the distro developer version?
Thanks

Comment 13 Chris Paulson-Ellis 2006-05-31 06:18:02 UTC
I can't install using the 06 ebuild, because the binary is no longer available from sun.

Why not include an ebuild with the fetch flag for 07? I've had to fabricate my own to be able to install at all. You can always update it later when the fetch-free download becomes available.
Comment 14 Srepfler Srgjan 2006-06-03 07:52:46 UTC
Sun is stalling .07 in order to include a revised DLJ FAQ with the
LICENSE and update the README to give more
explicit permissions on distribution modifications
for the JRE and the JDK.
It should be only a matter of days now.
