Sigh. Why did you install the thing in the first place/which ebuild did install it as a dependency? 

Some please finally let this EU-MM thing die or package.mask it at least. It's causing nothing but trouble.

I installed it as a (presumed) fix to bug #74671. While trying to get this fixed, I stumbled upon bug #9277.

I installed EU-MM, because of bug #9277, which I hoped would fix the issues I saw in bug #74671. But installing EU-MM didn't help.

Done, and emailed -dev with intent to remove. EU-MM has stopped serving its purpose. OP - unmerge EU-MM and install perl (or disable collision-protect, your call).
