Well, the relevant page seems to have been cancelled, but when I tried it last night there was no problem. An important difference may be that I have almost no plugins installed, resulting in the "missing plugins" bar. mozilla-firefox-1.0.8 [ -debug -gnome -ipv6 -java -mozcalendar -mozdevelop -moznoxft -mozsvg +truetype -xinerama -xprint ] xorg-x11-6.8.2-r7 [ -3dfx +3dnow +bitmap-fonts -cjk -debug +dlloader -dmx -doc -font-server -insecure-drivers -ipv6 -minimal +mmx +nls -nocxx +opengl +pam -sdk +sse -static +truetype-fonts +type1-fonts (-uclibc) -xprint +xv ] as the only page i know that may be used to reproduce this bug has been canceled, making any progress on this bug seems almost impossible. feel free to mark as (INVALID / NEEDINFO / CANTFIX). i'll reopen if i find a new testcase. the page is still in google's cache: http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:PlfW7wO2VaEJ:profile.myspace.com/index.cfm%3Ffuseaction%3Duser.viewprofile%26friendid%3D36939781+&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a (In reply to comment #3) > the page is still in google's cache: > http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:PlfW7wO2VaEJ:profile.myspace.com/index.cfm%3Ffuseaction%3Duser.viewprofile%26friendid%3D36939781+&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a > post about:plugins this I am sure is more of a plugin issue then anything else. about:plugins
this is about:plugins from the browser where i discovered the problem; note that i've upgraded to 1.5.0.3 in the meantime.
I seem to be the only one who can verify this bug so far. My system settings follow: Portage 2.0.54-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r3, 2.6.16-gentoo-r7 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-gentoo-r7 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.70GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 dev-python/pycrypto: [Not Present] dev-util/ccache: 2.3 dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defa ults/pref /usr/share/config /var/bind" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="ru_RU.KOI8-R" LINGUAS="en ru" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X alsa apache2 apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr cli crypt cups curl dri dvd eds emboss encode e sd exif expat fam ffmpeg foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif glut gmp gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg kde lcms libg++ libwww mad mhash mikmod mmx mng motif mozilla mozsvg mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls nptl nsplugin nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl php pic png postgres pppd python qt quicktime readline reflect ion samba sdl session slang snmp spell spl sse sse2 ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev usb vo rbis xml2 xmms xorg xv xvid zlib linguas_en linguas_ru userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.0.8 -debug +gnome +ipv6 +java -mozcalendar -mozdevelop -moznoxft +mozsvg +truetype -xinerama -xprint x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r7 -3dfx -3dnow +bitmap-fonts -cjk -debug -dlloader -dmx -doc +font-server -insecure-drivers +ipv6 -minimal +mmx +nls -nocxx +opengl +pam -sdk +sse -static +truetype-fonts +type1-fonts (-uclibc) -xprint +xv about:plugins Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_10-b03 Totem 1.2.1 Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible version 0.4.0.581 built with gcc 3.2.0 on Feb 1 2006 Shockwave Flash 7.0 r63 Adobe Reader 7.0 Try this: export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 then run firefox from the same terminal. Unfortunately the problem doesn't show up with the cached page. Exporting XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 doesn't make a difference. Can you reproduce this with xorg >=7.0? Please reopen when you reply. hmm, i can't try as the page has been removed; but when i first encountered this problem i asked someone with xorg-7.0 and firefox-1.0.8 to try the page on his box; he wasn't able to reproduce this error (i think firefox _only_ crashed). so i think that this is an xorg-6.8.x problem .... reopening as requested - feel free to close this bug again ... :-) Alright, closing as fixed since 7.0 is stable. |
