After a deep world upgrade yesterday my apache server stopped working with ssl on port 443. When i try to start it up with -D SSL o get the following error: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs I already tried all the netstat and hidden process stuff from google and i can say: there ist definitly no process listening on port 443! I also tried compiling a fresh apache installation from apache.org and i donĀ“t get the error. Everything is working fine and the server is listing on port 443. Whats also a little bit strange is, that e.g. on port 444 or 445 it works fine as well. Just port 443 is the problem. Please mention that I only get this error with SSL enabled. non-SSL is still working fine. Here my emerge --info output: Portage 2203-svn (default-linux/x86/2006.0, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r3, 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 dev-python/pycrypto: [Not Present] dev-util/ccache: [Not Present] dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -msse -mmmx -msse2" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -msse -mmmx -msse2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.intergenia.de/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 acpi apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cli crypt cups curl dri eds emboss encode esd expat foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gmp gpm gstreamer hal imlib ipv6 isdnlog jpeg ldap libg++ libwww mad mhash mikmod motif mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls nptl ogg opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl php png pppd python quicktime readline reflection sdl session spell spl ssl tcpd truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev usb vorbis xml xml2 xmms xorg xv zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/apache-troubleshooting.xml?style=printable.
