Description James Gatt 2006-05-06 06:54:04 UTC
As far as I can tell, the xmms-xmmsd (web control) plugin just plain doesn't work. I am running xmms 1.2.10 and when I enable the plugin xmms just seg faults. If I change the IP address in the configure dialog for xmmsd I also get an invalid address error on the console - even when setting to the default address supplied!

I get the feeling this plugin is out-of-date and just not supported any more - the latest version (0.3) was released on August 9, 2002. I'm guessing the xmms plugin API has moved on since then...

There doesn't appear to be any useful documentation with this plugin that describes anything beyond what I have already tried. If someone can actually make it work then I guess there is a compatibility issue with my (amd64) system, although finding out what is probably more work than it's worth. If nobody can make it work then perhaps its time in the gentoo portage tree has come to an end?

I'm using XMMS 1.2.10-r15 and have xmms-xmmsd-0.3 installed, and it works just fine.

I'm not saying its particularly useful - just that (on 32 arch's, at least) it does indeed work correctly.
