Description Filip Brcic 2006-05-04 09:24:02 UTC
This new ebuild adds support for WMV3 codec to ffmpeg. For more info see the following two sites:

http://www.richardgoodwin.com/wp/2006/02/15/building-ffmpeg-to-support-windows-media-files/
http://multimedia.cx/eggs/?p=129

I have tested this on AMD64, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work on any other architecture.

The legality of this is still to discuss.
Won't be patched, and left to upstream to include when they can.

Ok. I will leave the ebuild on my server hoping that nobody will sue me :)

The internal ffmpeg of mplayer-1.0_pre20060810 plays VC-1 files now!!
The playback isn't perfect, but at least they play.
I'd love to see this in system ffmpeg as well, so I can watch VC-1 files in kaffeine as well.
So basically this is a version bump request, can we get a ffmpeg snappshot from 20060810 or later please :).
