have you tried with a internal cdrom drive ? it works here. I don't have any usb cdrom drive. Unfortunately I don't have an internal cd-rom drive. This is a Sharp Actius MM-20 ultra-light laptop. It doesn't have enough room for an internal cd-rom drive. I would like to say that the usb cd-rom drive is just fine for movies and data, so I can't understand why it would have problems with music. Audio CD's are different than data CD's, you need to read the device rather than the files on the device. Try this: 'emerge -atuD xmms-cdread' to read audio cd's. This will show up as a plug in when you run xmms via 'Ctl-P' Audio I/O Plugins tab 'AudioCD Reader 0.* [libcdread.so]' Click the configure button in the Preferences window 'Input Plugins' section with 'AudioCD Reader' selected. Ensure that in the Ouput tab of the 'CD Reader Configuration' window has output mode of 'Read Digital CD Audio' selected. To play an audio cd, play /dev/cdrom (or /dev/sr0 in your case if you don't have a sym link to /dev/cdrom) as a file. this doesn't look a real bug and xmms is really old to support usb drives out of box. So i suggest you to try what have been told on comment #3. |
