Description GNUtoo 2006-05-01 15:55:54 UTC
hello i have a kernel bug
# uname -a
:Linux localhost 2.6.16-gentoo-r4_dell_inspiron2500 #3 Mon May 1 22:36:55 Local time zone must be set--see zic manua i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) GNU/Linux

the bug:
when i type: "echo standby>/sys/power/state" from a terminal emulator under kde i have no problems while resuming(i don't see the standby screen,i don't know if it's normal)
but when i do this from the console(a real tty with ctrl+alt+f1->f6) my screen doesn't comes back...

in order to cope with this you will need to do a clrl+F6(the gui screen) in order to have back something usable

problems:
*some people doesn't know that the alt+F1 thing
*server that doesn't have X

mabe that should be fixed because it doesn't touch some hard part such as VFS...(regarding the policy to fix only very important problems in the kernel)
