It's available in rpm and deb
This binary version of OpenOffice.org is fully translated into Polish

We have polish language support through LINGUAS in openoffice-bin, what is the problem with that / why should we include this in the tree?
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-29 07:26:59 UTC
This doesn't make sense indeed. Set LINGUAS="pl" instead of requesting such redundant stuff...

@suka - 'Accept bug' doesn't re-assign the bug to you, you need to re-assign first and then accept. ;)

@Jakub: Actually I know that ;) Just missed that it wasn't already assigned to me ;)

openoffice-bin with LINGUAS="PL" don't give fully-translated openoffice

Ux.pl version of openoffice is used by most openoffice.org users in Poland. It has its own patches, making it better for polish users.

Then ask upstream translation team to use the better translation. Why don't they use it if it's available?

Well, this is not a viable option really, IMHO. As said above, get the translations accepted into official OO.org branch. There's enough maintenance burden wrt OO.org as it is, I don't see any good reason to maintain some OO.org fork in addition.

Not going to take this, like Jakub already pointed out, if someone is doing this, they really should get their work upstream so that everyone can benefit from it, instead of having a "special" version.
