While trying to emerge icon 9.4.3-r2 I ran into the following problem

Looks like the ebuild doesn't give the correct platform for OSX

It looks like arizona moved the ppc_macos to just macintosh, therefore the "mytarget" statement in the ebuild should be:

if use ppc-macos; then
     mytarget="macintosh"
else 
...

also you might want to just read the status file in the config/macintosh for any comments
