I-m installing news gentoo system and emerge gentoo-sources produces 

awk: cmd. line:1: fatal: cannot open file `/var/tmp/portage/gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r3/work/linux-2.6.16-gentoo-r3/include/linux/version.h' for reading (No such file or directory)

but it installs correctly
