Kindly learn how to set your db charset; mysql defaults to utf8 - this is not a bug. Gosh, this does not help if the client does not speak utf8! What do you think how many hours I've spent RTFM after upgrading from 4.0.x to 4.1.14 unless I found a solution? I converted my data back and forth along with multiple settings in my.cnf. But nothing will change the fact, that some clients still won't talk utf8. And now you simply drop the necessary use flag within a minor upgrade without any further notice or warning. But, hey, it's just *my* data that gets corrupted with a stable version. This is really one of the days I consider kicking Gentoo! |
