Description Will Reid 2003-01-01 20:48:38 UTC
Nick, could logging of say the last 10 rsync servers used be added to portage? Or atleast the info of which server was just used be added and displayed at the end of the `emerge sync`? I just entered a bug report for an out of date rsync mirror (Bug #13062) but wasn't sure which server to report as faulty because the mirror info is reported (only for some servers at that) and then scrolled out of the buffer by the time you know there's a problem.

is there any way to check, when the server has been updated last time ?
maybe we should add a kind of feature, asking this time and it should not
differ more than eg. 12 h.
if so rsync should choose the next server.

would be a great feature, same as checking space beforce emergeing

Nope. Can't add logging of which server. Could log the output, but that can
get extreme. The round robin makes it a little difficult to figure out the
server you are using.

As for the timestamping... I'll be working on that eventually.
I've got some ideas to really speed up rsync, but I've got other
things on my plate first.
