Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: David Lesaffre <david.lesaffre>
Component: New packagesAssignee: Gentoo Linux bug wranglers <bug-wranglers>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux

Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---
Attachments: emerge failure with LINGUAS="nl fr"
emerge success with LINGUAS="en"

Description David Lesaffre 2006-04-20 01:01:07 UTC
with the following line in /etc/make.conf:
LINGUAS="nl fr"

emerge mplayer fails with:

 * Make
./version.sh `cc -dumpversion`
iconv -f `cat help/help_mp-nl.h.charset` -t UTF-8 "help/help_mp-nl.h" >> help_mp.h
cat: help/help_mp-nl.h.charset: Onbekend bestand of map
iconv: conversie van `-t' wordt niet ondersteund
make: *** [help_mp.h] Fout 1

(full output in attachment emergeNL.log)

=> Onbekend bestand of map = Unknown file or directory
the nl part in the name of the unknown file led me to try with
LINGUAS="en"
in /etc/make.conf

this time mplayer emerges fine
(full output in attachment emergeEN.log)

former versions did not suffer from this bug

and here is my emerge --info (for LINGUAS nl):

Why don't you search first?

Comment 4 David Lesaffre 2006-04-20 01:34:30 UTC
sorry about that
but i did a search yesterday on
help/help_mp-nl.h.charset

and it turned up nothing
and i could only report the bug today

indeed, between my search and my post there has been bug report http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130544
