Hi

Could you provide an "emerge info", and your gcl version?

I could not reproduce your problem, also on amd64. Seems like a gcl with PIC problem. Any lisp guru around?
maxima-5.9.3 has some fixes in the gentoo scientific overlay at http://gentooscience.org. You could give it a try and report here.
Comment 5 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-13 10:47:27 UTC
Is this problem any better in the latest 5.11.0 version which is now in the main portage tree (moved from the overlay)?

I was unable to assess the problem in 5.10.0, which was in the portage tree, because the problem didn't occur. :)

Closing then, since maxima-5.9.3 is not anymore in the tree.
