Same here. I was running Xgl/compiz, but switched my config to run xorg-server/metacity instead and got the same error in both places. Portage 2.1_pre7-r5 (default-linux/amd64/2006.0, gcc-4.1.0, glibc-2.4-r1, 2.6.16-ck2 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-ck2 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre17 ccache version 2.4 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1, 2.16.91.0.6, 2.16.91.0.7 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe -ffriend-injection" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache confcache distlocks metadata-transfer nostrip parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict"GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.osuosl.org/" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/bmg-main /usr/local/xgl-coffee /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X aac alsa apache2 avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cairo cdr cli crypt ctype cups dba dbus debug dri dvd dvdr eds emboss encode esd expat fastbuild firefox flac foomaticdb force-cgi-redirect fortran ftp gd gdbm gif glitz gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal imlib ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg kde ldap lzw lzw-tiff mad memlimit mono mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ogg opengl pam pcre pdflib perl pic png posix pppd python qt quicktime readline ruby samba sdl session simplexml soap sockets spell spl sqlite ssl tcpd theora tiff tokenizer truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb vorbis xml xml2 xpm xsl xv zlib elibc_glibc input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse input_devices_evdev kernel_linux userland_GNU video_cards_vga video_cards_vesa" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS Downgrading to 1.0.2-r3 eliminates the error. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm using the latest nvidia-kernel/nvidia-glx, 1.0.8756. I won't have a chance until sometime tonight, but I'll try downgrading to 1.0.8178-r3 to see if this has an impact. I have the same trouble, any clue? There was an ABI change, nvidia will need to release new drivers to deal with it. In the future, please attach files rather than pasting them. *** Bug 129952 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I had the same problem, with 2.6.16. I solved it by enabling the VM86 support in the kernel. *** Bug 130763 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 131898 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 134937 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** ATi drivers are broken as well with this xorg-server update. bugzie Much newer packages are now available in portage and don't have such bugs.
