(In reply to comment #0) > Is sys-apps/linux32 intended to replace sys-apps/setarch? Yes, see Bug 123526. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 79606 *** (In reply to comment #1) That may have been the original intent of bug #123526, but see comment #6: ok, change of plan :) after some research and chatting with Kumba, it'd be better if we move to the "setarch" package by redhat Anyway, after removing setarch and installing linux32 in its place, the block remains: # emerge -upD system These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating system dependencies... done! [blocks B ] sys-apps/linux32 (is blocking sys-apps/setarch-1.9) [ebuild N ] sys-apps/setarch-1.9 (In reply to comment #2) Sure, the other way round... setarch replaces linux32, not the other way. > Anyway, after removing setarch and installing linux32 in its place, the block > remains: Yes, you need to unmerge linux32 (also, see Bug 129571). |
I received the following problem emerging world this evening: # emerge -upD world These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating world dependencies... done! [blocks B ] sys-apps/linux32 (is blocking sys-apps/setarch-1.9) [ebuild U ] sys-apps/coreutils-5.94-r2 [5.94-r1] [ebuild U ] sys-apps/util-linux-2.12r-r4 [2.12r-r3] [ebuild U ] sys-apps/busybox-1.1.2 [1.1.1] [ebuild N ] sys-apps/linux32-2.0 [ebuild UD] sys-apps/setarch-1.9 [2.0] After downgrading to setarch-1.9, linux32 continues to block it. I haven't been game to try and remove setarch, as it is part of the system profile: # emerge --unmerge setarch !!! 'sys-apps/setarch' is part of your system profile. !!! Unmerging it may be damaging to your system. >>> Waiting 10 seconds before starting... >>> (Control-C to abort)...
