I emerged capisuite-0.4.5, but conversion from fax to pdf didn't work because my media-libs/tiff was on tiff-3.5.7-r1. That version doesn't support the -H option that is used in /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/cs_helpers.py. I suggest requireing tiff >=3.7.

Please, upgrade your system properly, using --deep. tiff-3.5.7-r1 has been removed from portage 18 months (!) ago.

emerge -uD world doesn't work properly. Please see bug 100382. At the end, I suggested a fix for that issue, but Jason Stubbs said: "If it's not in world, it doesn't count." tiff usually is not in world and is thus not updated regularly. This can lead to strange results if capisuite doesn't explicitly declare its dependency. You may want to file this bug upstream at portage :)
