Description Sergio Jimenez 2002-12-30 08:05:23 UTC
I've installed Gentoo on my new laptop with AMD Mobile 1600+ XP. I'm having
problems with MPlayer portage and CFLAGS (-march && -mcpu). If I leave mplayer
takes its own CFLAGS I can see -march=athlon-4 and -mcpu=athlon-4 but when I
exec mplayer it gives "Illegal Instruction". Then I delete "unset CFLAGS
CXXFLAGS" and "--disable-runtime-cpudetection" then only see -mcpu=athlon-xp (I
have it on my make.conf). Now works properly.

I don't know what's happening exactly.

Can you copy information from the error you get running the program?
Also paste your output from emerge info...

There are many people that have had questions regarding the "--disable-runtime-cpudetection" configure option and from statements on mailing lists it is safer to have that option in configure. If you just remove the unset CFLAGS line, does the build work for you then?

I have not had any problem running the program using the settings provided by the ebuild in portage and I have tested on an athlon-xp 1600+ and an Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz...

I apologise for this bugspam, but I wish to close this product, so I need to
move all the bugs.
