If you can reproduce this with the "ati" driver, please assign back to x11. I've experienced this same bug, using the ATI drivers manually from ati.com (not the ebuild). This may be an important detail: I'm using a flat screen LCD monitor via DVI. This issue did not occure with my 14" CRT monitor. I've tested gentoo sources 2.6.15-r7, 2.6.15-r8, 2.6.16, and 2.6.16-r1. I am using kernel boot options with the radeon framebuffer. A kernel option console resolution of equal to my X11 resolution is correlated with his problem. Having a kernel option console resolution less than my X11 resolution eliminates this bug under gentoo-sources 2.6.16-r1. Bare in mind, kernel >=2.6.16 does not yet support the fglrx driver, so it's not loaded. However, in 2.6.16 this bug is present. EMail me if clearer information is needed. ^_^ sgoral@gmail.com Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r3, 2.6.16-gentoo-r1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-gentoo-r1 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11 /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X acc aim alsa apache2 apm arts audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr crypt cups curl directfb dri dts dvd eds emboss encode esd ethereal exif expat fam ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif glut gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg kde lcms ldap libg++ libwww mad matroska mbox mhash mikmod mmx mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg msn mysql ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl php png pppd python qt quicktime readline recode reiserfs sdl slang spell sse sse2 ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev usb vorbis xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY I beleive this bug has been fixed as of ATI Driver Version: 8.25.18 Reopen if you can reproduce with up-to-date xorg-server and ati-drivers versions.
