Description Peter Ruskin 2002-12-27 20:15:15 UTC
I emerged cups-1.1.18, gimp-print-4.2.4 and gimp-print-cups-4.3.5.

I have an HP DeskJet 845C USB printer and it wasn't recognised, even after
reboot. I used the CUPS web interface and KDE Print Manager, using first USB
printer port. In both cases the test print failed to materialise.

Even my already configured hpijs setup failed to print.

I have now unmerged them all and remerged cups-1.1017_pre20021025 and
gimp-print-cups-4.3.0-r2 and I can print again

Comment 2 Peter Ruskin 2002-12-28 05:47:13 UTC
As you wrote where? I can't see that in your mail message. No, I didn't
re-emerge ghostview - I'll try again later.

OK, I remerged and saw the message about ghostscript at the end of the cups
emerge - it's easy to miss that when you're emerging multiple packages - perhaps
a message at the start of cups emerge with user aknowledgement required would be
better? After ghostview is emerged it all works fine.
