I helped mark0 on IRC to find the source for his/her problems. I was surprised that Gentoo compiles MLDonkey without threads per default. This drastically hurts MLDonkey performance as mark0 already pointed out. There is also no reason to disable threads per default because this code is rock-solid and used for years now. Gentoo should drop this USE flag completely ASAP, MLDonkey configure activates threads if present (should be the case on all Gentoo archs). MLDonkey 2.7.5 made it into portage but the threads USE flag is still in there... Removed threads USE flag in mldonkey-2.7.6.ebuild |
