The mouse usually works, but sometimes when I have disconnected it and reconnected it, it does not work. The mouse pointer on the screen does not move when the mouse is moved and the light on the underside is not turned on. It only happens sometimes, and sometimes it works. When the problem has occured, disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly has never helped. Unloading and reloading the modules (evdev uhci_hcd usbhid) does not help either (usbcore can not be unloaded). Rebooting the system has always helped. The logfile says "When mouse is disconnected and reconnected: hub 2-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1.  Maybe the USB cable is bad?" every few seconds. System information:

Please reproduce on the latest kernel (currently 2.6.16) with CONFIG_USB_DEBUG enabled. We need to see complete kernel logs of when it happens.

Also, is it possible to test the mouse on another system, just to rule out the possibility that it is faulty?
