In the UTF-8 guide the irssi section tells you to set irssi to UTF-8 by entering 

/set term_type UTF-8

This is incorrect, it should be 

/set term_charset UTF-8

Fixed in CVS. Thanks for catching this; I hadn't even realized that the 0.8.10 upgrade changed the command.
