Well sorry, but you didn't post any errors. Also, emerge --info is missing. Umm, ERROR: Error 11 occurred while making /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-2.0.1/work/ooo-build-2.0.1.3/build/ooa680-m1/boost make: *** [stamp/build] Error 1 is in there, also all the information in emerge info is in the dump, but fine: Portage 2.1_pre5-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.15-ck3-r1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-ck3-r1 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre16 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ ftp://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/ http://ds.thn.htu.se/linux/gentoo http://ftp.linux.ee/pub/gentoo/distfiles/ http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/gentoo/" LANG="C" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" MAKEOPTS="-j4" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aac acpi adns alsa arts asf audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl dbus dga divx4linux dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread emboss encode ethereal exif expat fam ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif glut gmp gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal idn ieee1394 imlib ipv6 irmc java jpeg jpeg2k junit kde kdeenablefinal kqemu lcms ldap libg++ libwww mad madwifi mikmod mmx mmxext mng motif mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin offensive ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pcmcia pcre pdflib perl pic png pnp ppds pppd python qt quicktime readline real rtc samba sdl snmp spell sse sse2 ssl sysfs tcltk tcpd tga theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev usb userlocales vorbis wifi win32codecs wma wmf xine xml2 xmms xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc zlib elibc_glibc input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse input_devices_synaptics kernel_linux userland_GNU video_cards_i810" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, LC_ALL, LINGUAS This build breakage has nothing to do with modular X. Are you sure your disk didn't fill up? 38 gigs of free space so, no. And yeah, it's possible that modular X is not the culprit - that's just when the problem appeared. It seems that only standard out is included in your error report. Unfortunately every error in the openoffice build identifies itself as "error 11". It seems that the whole make is broken. You might want to try to ensure that the rest of the packages are proper. (In reply to comment #5) > It seems that only standard out is included in your error report. I just pasted it from konsole, so it should all be there (both stdout and stderr) - does the oo.org ebuild redirect stderr to somewhere other than to the console? Hmm, this issue seems to be there on the forums, too: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-430188-highlight-openoffice+boost.html http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-428030-highlight-openoffice+boost.html The latter link seems to suggest something about using DIR_COLORS - this is a bit weird, since I don't use them as root. I'm also not using the unstable coreutils mentioned.. I'm also not using the unstable > coreutils mentioned.. > Don't think this is an issue here, we had such a bug once, but your build log doesn't point to this at all (also the DIRCOLORS problem is fixed in the latest tcsh) Ok, what can I do now then to get some more helpful debugs? Try to rebuild with: "emerge -b openoffice &>ooffice.log&" If you want to see progress: "less -F ooffice.log" btw. Are you perhaps using sudo to start the merging? If so, what happens if you use su to become root? (In reply to comment #10) > btw. Are you perhaps using sudo to start the merging? If so, what happens if > you use su to become root? Not using sudo, emerging in root environment. Tried to get the logs. Anyway,.the problem, it seems, appears *only* when using revdep-rebuild to build oo.org. When I simply tried emerging (with your command line) boost started building just fine! Also, simple, basic emerge -av openoffice works ok (or at least get's past the previous failure point). Is this a bug with revdep-rebuild? Seems kinda weird because, after all it only calls 'emerge --oneshot =app-office/openoffice-2.0.1'... As a final thing, I tried to see if running that oneshot command line would result in problems. None there, either...Must be a revdep-rebuild-issue. Changelog for the latest gentoolkit does list a fixed bug for revdep-rebuild, but that seems to be only for the new use-flag handling in portage 2.1.. Anyway, rebuilding now. Same problem here. Also since upgrading to modular X (by coincidence?) Trying emerge -av --oneshot now. Only did add however the binfilter use flag. (I had a problem with that flag on my desktop, just forgot whether I had it on or off. I belive with on it fails ...) For me it worked by using binfilter flag. (I'm fairly sure that it didn't run with just -av --oneshot only e.g. remerge as stated above) (In reply to comment #13) > For me it worked by using binfilter flag. (I'm fairly sure that it didn't run > with just -av --oneshot only e.g. remerge as stated above) I have never used binfilter flag (I don't need support for Staroffice documents). Closing this, OOo builds fine for the original reporte, maybe something weird in your system but not a OOo problem anyway. Agreed. This problem showed up at the same after a revdep-rebuild. It breaks at EXACTLY the same spot, as described here with Building project boost. I'd test it more extensivly, but OOo takes to long on my old little box. Next time I need to compile, i'll remove the binfilters flag and we'll see. |
