Description Matt Kulka 2006-03-01 12:27:36 UTC
With the current configure options for net-analyzer/net-snmp does not compile the mibs in such a way to support 64-bit counters for the interface traffic counters. This is a problem on heavily utilized Gigabit interfaces since a 32-bit counter wraps after a very short time.

With the configure option "--enable-mfd-rewrites", the mibs (and perhaps changes in the agent?) will be written properly and 64-bit counters can be used.

Additionally, the default ebuild does not build the mib necessary for reporting disk I/O. Adding "ucd-snmp/diskio" to the mibs variable in the ebuild will cause this mib to be generated. There's really no reason I can think of to leave this mib out.

Can these be included by default into the ebuild to avoid having to edit it or at least, a USE variable created for it? I work in a medium size (150+ server) environment, so this would really be a time-saver.

Thanks.
