this comes after a fresh install of mpd on a fresh gentoo system

/etc/init.d/mpd start
 * Caching service dependencies ...
 *  Can't find service 'alsasound' needed by 'mpd';  continuing...                                                                                                     [ ok ]
alsasound
 * ERROR:  Some services needed are missing.  Run
 *         './mpd broken' for a list of those
 *         services.  "mpd" was not started.

so the mpd ebuild must depend on alsa-utils if the USE Flag alsa is set (reffering to Bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99969)

i think it's easy to fix
