Description Chris Slycord 2006-02-24 23:19:26 UTC
I installed the modular xorg-x11 (version 7.0-r1) with VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia" and INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse". I later removed it (and all the related modular-related packages) and deleted the entries I had added in /etc/portage/package.unmask

But now when I do "emerge world --update --deep --newuse" I get the following output:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies                 s
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "x11-base/xorg-server" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-base/xorg-server-1.0.1-r4 (masked by: package.mask)
# Donnie Berkholz <spyderous@gentoo.org> (07 Aug 2005)
# Modularized X, upstream release candidates

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "gnome-base/libgnomecanvas-2.12.0" [ebuild])

!!! Problem resolving dependencies for x11-terms/gnome-terminal
!!! Depgraph creation failed.

And I find that libgnomecanvas is being installed with the USE="X" and looking at /var/cache/edb/dep/usr/portage/gnome-base/libgnomecanvas-2.12.0 I find the following in the DEPEND line

X? ( || ( x11-base/xorg-server virtual/x11 ) )

But for some reason everytime it picks out xorg-server instead of virtual/x11 as the dependency (despite the fact that I did install virtual/x11).
