Do you have xkeyboard-config or xkbdata installed? (In reply to comment #1) > Do you have xkeyboard-config or xkbdata installed? > xkbdata-1.0.1 Could you check whether it's a problem in the other? (In reply to comment #3) > Could you check whether it's a problem in the other? > there's another similar line in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/level5: partial modifier_keys xkb_symbols "rctrl_switch" { key <RCTL> { type[Group1]="ONE_LEVEL", symbols[Group1] = [ F35 ] }; modifier_map Mod5 { F35 }; }; anywhere i don't know what layout uses this bootlevel, personally i use "it" Please file an upstream bug at bugs.freedesktop.org in the xkeyboard-config product and post the URL here so we can track it. xkbdata is largely no longer maintainer, so xkeyboard-config is the preferred way to go. Problem with Xorg-7.0 in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/level3 on line: type[Group1]="ONE_LEVEL", it must be sobstitute with: type[Group1]="TWO_LEVEL", ERROR on "startx" command: The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > Warning: Type ONE_LEVEL has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols > Ignoring extra symbols Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
