Description Erik 2006-02-13 13:34:44 UTC
when I type "man ftpd" I can read:
-p Disable passive mode ftp connections. This is useful if you are behind a firewall that refuses connections to arbitrary high numbered
ports. Many ftp clients try passive mode first and do not always react gracefully to a server that refuses connections to the port it
asked the client to connect to.

when I type "zless /usr/share/man/cat8/ftpd.8.gz" I can read:
-p Use port (a service name or number) instead of the default
             ftp/tcp.

but when I type "ftpd -p" I get:
ftpd: invalid option -- p
ftpd: unknown flag -p ignored

The expected behaviour is that an option that is listed in the man page should not be invalid. It would also be nice to not have several man pages that say different things for the command. "equery b /usr/bin/ftpd /usr/share/man/cat8/ftpd.8.gz /usr/share/man/man8/ftpd.8.gz" says:
[ Searching for file(s) /usr/bin/ftpd,/usr/share/man/cat8/ftpd.8.gz,/usr/share/man/man8/ftpd.8.gz in *... ]
app-crypt/kth-krb-1.2.2-r2 (/usr/share/man/man8/ftpd.8.gz)
app-crypt/kth-krb-1.2.2-r2 (/usr/share/man/cat8/ftpd.8.gz)
net-ftp/ftpd-0.17-r3 (/usr/share/man/man8/ftpd.8.gz)
net-ftp/ftpd-0.17-r3 (/usr/bin/ftpd)

We didn't write the manpage, you need to complain upstream.
