(sorry about my bad english) I think it could be a good idea to add a little something about loading thermal and fan before the chroot for laptop users I have a laptop (HP nc6000) and without this module, the computer is very hot. I have do : modprobe fan modprobe thermal (to late, temperature was critical 106°C and the computer reboot :/ ) Matthieu (In reply to comment #0) > (sorry about my bad english) > > I think it could be a good idea to add a little something about loading thermal > and fan before the chroot for laptop users > > I have a laptop (HP nc6000) and without this module, the computer is very hot. > > I have do : > modprobe fan > modprobe thermal > (to late, temperature was critical 106 (In reply to comment #0) > (sorry about my bad english) > > I think it could be a good idea to add a little something about loading thermal > and fan before the chroot for laptop users > > I have a laptop (HP nc6000) and without this module, the computer is very hot. > > I have do : > modprobe fan > modprobe thermal > (to late, temperature was critical 106°C and the computer reboot :/ ) > > Matthieu Which guide are you referring to? The power management guide was just updated; please check and see if this helps. Alternatively, just build fan and thermal *into* your kernel, *not* as modules. (In reply to comment #0) "Before the chroot" implies that this is for the installation handbook. Well, there are new installation CDs out for 2006.0; please use those. Also, we already have optional boot parameters in the handbook for the CDs: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=2#doc_chap3 "acpi=on" implements acpi detection and initialization; just be sure to boot with that option. Please reopen if you referred to a different doc (please tell us which doc it is!) |
