See bug #44766. In fact, emacs-18 was added to portage _after_ emacs-21.

The ebuild for 18.59 was a valuable addition to portage.  As noted elsewhere, emacs 18 is much more efficient over low bandwidth X11 links and of course, low on memory consumption.

Thanks for the patch.  Updated dependencies in portage.
