Description Hasse Hagen Johansen 2002-12-15 12:25:11 UTC
Hi

When running lircd from the current lirc-0.6.5.ebuild, the daemon stop when
starting xmms with the lirc support enabled, or when enabling the plugin from
XMMS. I get the followig error in my lircd log file:

Dec 15 18:55:37 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: lircd(any) ready
Dec 15 18:55:40 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Dec 15 18:55:40 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: could not get hardware features
Dec 15 18:55:40 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: this device driver does not
support the new LIRC interface
Dec 15 18:55:40 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: make sure you use a current
version of the driver
Dec 15 18:55:40 nexus6.musikcheck.dk lircd-0.6.5: caught signal

I have compiled the lirc0.6.6 from the source on the lirc site and it works fine
with the XMMS plugin. I have made the severity major because think it is one of
the main usages for lirc. I am sorry if it is not right.

Best Regards
Hasse

I'm running lirc with libirman.

lircd stops for me when i run irw or irexec. I see the same error messages in
my log. I'm not 100 per cent sure its not a config problem on my part but on
the face of it its very similar to Hasse's problem

Hasse are you using an irman?

I can confirm Hasse's comments. Installing from source went fine. I guess
its just passing the correct configure options for particular hardware.
