Description Talat Malik 2006-01-30 21:49:27 UTC
I am new to gentoo. This is my first install. It may be a dumb mistake that i am making. I am trying to upgrade kernel from 2.4.32-r1 to any of the 2.6 kernel but can't get that done. When i do 'emerge -pu sparc-sources' i don't get anything. I did change ACCEPT KEYWORD to include ~sparc.

sparc-sources-2.6 don't exist... Use gentoo-sources, vanilla-sources or whatever other kernel that has 2.6.x version :=)
Comment 2 Talat Malik 2006-01-31 08:46:55 UTC
I tried gentoo-sources and vanila-sources and got the same (no 2.6 kernel)
results... can you, pls, guide me i am new to gentoo..... thanks.
solaris150 home # emerge -puv gentoo-sources

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!

Total size of downloads: 0 kB
solaris150 home # emerge -puv vanila-sources

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "vanila-sources".

Please, be so kind and read the basic docs on working with portage (hint: they are not keyworded stable, you need to put them into /etc/portage/package.keywords)
