Description Mike Nerone 2006-01-19 08:55:30 UTC
With a stock cyrus-imapd, adding a mail user is a two-step process:

1. Create the user authentication information in whatever backend authentication system you're using.
2. Use cyradm or some other frontend to manually create the user's mailbox (INBOX) in Cyrus.

The University of Athens provides a commonly-used patch that provides an "autocreate" feature that takes care of step 2 for you when a user first checks his/her mail (or, optionally, when a message arrives for the user).

In the next comment, I'll provide a trivial ebuild patch to cyrus-imapd-2.2.12-r3.ebuild to integrate this patch so that this feature is available to Gentoo users. It uses a USE flag called "autocreate" to enable the patch.

Wow, that was really fast. I promise I *did* search both "ALL autocreate" and "ALL cyrus-imapd". The first returned "Zarro Boogs" and the second only had two hits. I swear something must have been temporarily jacked with the search. Both produce full results now, though. *blush*
