there is a niec patch for php that enabled a status bar for file uploading.. more info is here..

Sorry, we don't do such funky things. ;-) Ask upstream (bugs.php.net) to include it, that way it will be automatically included in Gentoo. Otherwise we won't do that, we try to ship php that matches upstream as closely as it reasonably can wrt functionality.
