Hi,

I recently ran ecatmurs dep-skript which told me that beside many other files /usr/bin/gtbl would not belong to any installed package so I removed that symlink. Later on I wanted to read some man-pages but only got an empty page in less and when I exited less the following errormessage appeared:

gamemaster@breakmygentoo:~> man bash
sh: /usr/bin/gtbl: No such file or directory

Fortunately I remembered that gtbl was a symlink to tbl so I figuered out the packgae tbl belongs to and recompiled it but still gtbl was missing.

I diffed the ebuilds of sys-apps/groff-1.19.1-r2 and sys-apps/groff-1.19.2 and found out, that the former ebuild has the lines

       # The following links are required for xman
       dosym eqn /usr/bin/geqn
       dosym tbl /usr/bin/gtbl
       dosym soelim /usr/bin/zsoelim

which are missing in the 1.19.2 ebuild and so are missing the symlinks for geqn, gtbl and zsoelim after the package has been compiled.
I checked this on two ~x86 machines and both groff-1.19.2 packages are missing all three symlinks. At least gtbl is critical as without this symlink man-pages cannot be shown.

Cheers
Polynomial-C

nevermind, found out, that I only had to tweak /etc/man.conf correctly *d'oh*
