Bug 116903 – wrong category + aux_get errors during merge

while building a stage 4, during the stage4/packages, also during livecd-stage1, merge i sometimes see the output below. i think it's obvious that gentoo-sources is not in app-misc.

this error happens on other packages too, not just gentoo-sources (but not all packages)

sys-apps/portage-2.0.51.22-r3 gets installed inside the chroot before this merge happens.

That is a portage error, not a catalyst error.  It honestly looks like you have an invalid portage cache or a broken snapshot/overlay.
