Sorry, but how on earth are we supposed to diagnose a problem without the actual code at hand and without any link to the particular site (which is additionally password-protected you say)?! Moreover, what leads you to the belief that this alleged Java problem is Gentoo-specific? Jakub - there is no way I can say it's Gentoo specific. I can tell you that it's happening on all Gentoo machines and I cannot give you access to the site. Sorry. What we need here is a bit better attitude form you and see if we cannot find a way to get it fixed instead of just blowing it off. First, it works on Gentoo using sun-jre-bin and does not work using blackdown. It also works on Windows and the Mac platforms. That says Linux, overall, has a problem. Is there no way I could capture some Java code and provide it to you to for someone to look at? I'm not a developer and don't know anything about this stuff. I am just trying to make the overall platform work better over time. It probably makes no difference, but as a dedicated Gentoo user I really think your commitment to even trying to look at this is lacking. Let's find a way to make it work instead of just giving up. I'm sorry if you're having a bad day or something. Give me some guidance and I'll try my best. With best regrds. Sorry, there's noone who could fix a problem described as "oh, there's a top-secret password-protected web page somewhere, which is using Java for some fancy charts and does not work with blackdown". Apparently, you're not even the author of that particular app, so there's no way you could provide the code needed to diagnose the issue. So - please, report the issues to the owner of that particular website, there's nothing Gentoo could do about this. Closing. I'm sorry you feel this way. I'm not saying the problem is Gentoo based. I'm just saying there is a problem I want to try and help get it fixed. Clearly your coming from a place that says it's easier to ignore than do something about. I can understand that from your perspective. Since this works with sun Java but not with Blackdown I thought originally about getting in touch with them but I didn't figure out how to do that. I guess I'll go that direction. I remind you that the history of Gentoo's Bugzilla setup was that the developers asked us to put bug reports here and not go upstream. You leave me no other option. Thanks for your help, such as it was. |
