I'm using Xorg 7.0 rc3 Either remove ffmpeg from your use flags, or wait until it's fixed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 110997 *** If you think that this bug is a duplicate of 110997, please at least reopen 110997!!!! the "fix" to 110997 actually broke my setup. I cannot reopen 110997. So I'm reopening this one. (In reply to comment #3) > If you think that this bug is a duplicate of 110997, > please at least reopen 110997!!!! Why should I reopen it? It's fixed; ffmpeg is not fixed, as noted there. You are using package.masked ebuilds so kindly spare a couple of exclamation marks for yourself or fix it for yourself meanwhile. If you can't, then don't use package.masked ebuilds. I'm sorry if you felt offended by these "!!!" Now, I'm relatively new to Gentoo, so if you would help me "fix" my setup, I'd be very grateful. That said, my reason for "using package.masked ebuilds" is to help debug the new upcoming Xorg 7.0 release. If you grep Xorg changelogs, you will see that I contributed a couple of fix to that codebase recently... transcode _IS_ fixed, its deps are not, that's not a problem with transcode, and yeah if you want that fixed, please just wait or submit the ebuild patch yourself. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 110997 *** Meanwhile, you should also do echo "virtual/x11 x11-base/xorg-x11" >> /etc/portage/profile/virtuals until all ebuilds you are using get fixed for modular X, or you'll have similar problems with a lot more ebuilds. Jakub:
Thanks for the tip, I can now update my system correctly.
Diego:
Sorry, I don't understand you logic. You're telling me
"That's not a problem with transcode". I trust you.
But If it is not a transcode bug, why do you insist on
marking that bug as a duplicate of a transcode bug???
Should I reopen that bug so it can be marked as a duplicate
of ffmpeg or whatever really cause my system to fail???
I'm changing the summary.
It's not even ffmpeg the problem: [ebuild U ] www-client/links-2.1_pre19 [2.1_pre18] +X -directfb -fbcon +gpm -javascript +jpeg -livecd +png +ssl -svga +tiff -unicode 3,754 kB [nomerge ] x11-terms/xterm-204 -Xaw3d -toolbar +truetype -unicode [nomerge ] sys-apps/utempter-0.5.5.6 [nomerge ] app-arch/rpm2targz-9.0-r3 [nomerge ] sys-apps/file-4.13 -build +python [ebuild N ] virtual/x11-6.8 0 kB it's links 2.1_pre19 that is not modular-x friendly, the one fixed is pre20. |
