Description Thomas Schlesinger 2005-12-07 08:00:51 UTC
After upgrading from the previous xorg-server version to 0.99.4-r2, the
keyboard doesn't work in KDE 3.5. In fluxbox, the keyboard does work. In the
KDE login manager, too. But when I've logged in into a KDE session, the
keyboard is dead. One exception: when I press the Ctrl-Key in Konqueror, I can
see the expected reaction. The /var/log/messages doesn't show something
suspectable.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge xorg-server 0.99.4-r2 & friends
2. emerge kde 3.5
3. login in KDE

Actual Results:
see Details

Expected Results:
The keyboard should work

Update: I've found out, that the numeric pad keys are working in a KDE session.
Comment 4 Patrik Kullman 2005-12-07 22:28:48 UTC
It's probably because of the changes in paths.

Try:
cd /usr/X11/lib
ln -s /usr/share/X11/XKeysymDB

And then restart your login manager and try again.

The same problem exists with XErrorDB and locales for some applications..
I'm looking for a better solution..
Comment 5 Thomas Schlesinger 2005-12-08 08:30:54 UTC
I've set the link from /usr/share/X11/XKeysymDB to /usr/X11R6/lib/XKeysymDB (I
suppose, you mean X11R6/lib instead of X11/lib), but it doesn't solve the
problem.

No, I didn't mean /usr/X11R6/lib, but /usr/lib/X11/

Try linking it in there..

Sorry for the typo.
Comment 10 Thomas Schlesinger 2005-12-10 01:52:24 UTC
Yes, that did the trick. Thank you very much!
